TravisMathew, the golf apparel brand based in Southern California, said former world #1 tennis player Andy Roddick has joined the company as an investor and brand ambassador. Prior to his retirement, Roddick was sponsored by Lacoste.

In a statement, TravisMathew said that having recently retired from the game, Roddick leaves behind one of the most illustrious ATP careers in American tennis history. Beginning with his reign as the world’s #1 ranked Junior where Andy won six world junior singles titles including the Junior U.S. Open and Junior Australian Open. In his first few years as a professional, Roddick captured the 2003 U.S. Open Title and assumed the world No. 1 ranking for nine consecutive weeks. For the next decade, Andy was ranked within the Top 10 in the world. Throughout his career, Roddick notched 5 Masters Series titles and reached 4 Grand Slam finals, which included some of the most memorable matches in history.

Despite countless achievements on court, almost more impressive is Andy’s work off of the tennis court through the Andy Roddick Foundation. He was recognized in 2005 for his community involvement with the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian award, and again in 2007 with the Arthur Ashe Leadership award. He followed this up in 2009 when he was awarded the Heineken Star award for achievements in the fields of athletics and philanthropy. The Andy Roddick Foundation seeks to raise money to fund programs that improve the daily lives of children including everything from educational assistance, tennis camps and after-school activities.

The statement reads, “From day one, TravisMathew has strived to create products that blend both style and performance in order to meet the wide variety of everyday needs our consumers face, all the while, sharing our successes through charitable efforts with organizations such as Fresh Start Surgical Gifts, Out of Sight Faith and City of Hope. With our shared desire to be the best in our respective arenas and to give back to those in need, we see Andy as a perfect fit for TravisMathew.”
