Amer Sports Corporation has today divested its unused manufacturing site in Rumilly, France. The transaction consists of 15 hectares (37 acres) of land and 35,000 m² (376,736 Sq. ft.) of buildings. The transaction price totals EUR 8 million ($11.7 mm) and a capital gain of EUR 7.4 million ($10.8) mm will be reported in Amer Sports' fourth quarter result as a non-recurring item. The purchaser is the French group Ecologgia.
Production of skis, bindings and cycling components at the Rumilly facility was closed down at the end of 2008 as part of measures to improve efficiency in Amer Sports' Winter Sports Equipment business. The ski manufacturing was relocated to Amer Sports' factories in Austria and Bulgaria, and the production of cycling components was transferred to Annecy in France.
The group Ecologgia is planning to construct an industrial center specializing in wood technology.
