Los Angeles-based athleisure brand Alo Yoga launched its first online flagship on Alibaba’s Tmall, preceding planned brick-and-mortar openings in China.

According to Tmall, “the brand will gain access to more than 62 million 88VIP members through the platform.”

Gu Di, GM of Sports and Outdoors at Taobao and Tmall Group, said the “partnership would help Alo reach high-value consumers in the country. The partnership reinforces Tmall’s position as the go-to choice for global brands in China seeking high-value customers and scalable growth.”

The Tmall launch follows Alo’s entry into mainland China in June, when the brand established its presence on WeChat and Xiaohongshu, also known as RedNote. Physical retail preparations are underway for flagship stores in Beijing and Shanghai. The brand’s first Hong Kong store is being developed at K11 Musea in Tsim Sha Tsui, although no opening date has been announced.

Founded in 2007, Alo operates over 150 stores globally, including about 70 in the U.S. and recently announced plans to open stores in major cities including Germany after establishing a presence in the UK and France. In Asia, Alo has opened stores in South Korea, Singapore, the Philippines, and Southeast Asian hubs of Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
