Aku, the Italian footwear specializing in hand-crafted hiking and trekking boots, said the company experienced 16 percent growth in the past year in Canada and the U.S.

The driving force behind Aku’s growth in North America is attributed to expanded distribution in specialty retail stores as well as a commitment from a national specialty retail chain who has recently increased the number of stores where they sell Aku boots for 2019.

“The Aku brand is extremely well-known and has a strong market share in Italy and throughout Europe. This year has proven to be a significant milestone for Aku’s growth in North America,” said Rick Cook, owner of Aku Outdoor Inc.. “One of our important national retail partners tested Aku boots in their stores and on their website last year, and we are excited that they have decided to maintain their Aku web presence and to triple the number of stores offering Aku boots in 2019.”

The number-one selling boot that is helping to drive sales in North America has been the Men’s Alterra GTX. Aku has also received early strong feedback on the Rapida GTX shoe that will be available starting in spring 2019. Both of these styles are representative of the entire Aku collection and the brand’s promise to never compromise on quality and comfort.

“This sales growth reinforces Aku’s commitment to the North American outdoor market. We now have a team of Ambassadors based across the U.S. and Canada who are working with us to spread the word about the product and the brand through social media and on the trails,” continued Cook.
