Adventure 16 has recently closed two of its seven doors. John D. Mead, president of Adventure 16, told SportsOneSource that its store in Costa Mesa, CA, was closed on Feb. 23 while its store in Torrance, CA, closed in December.

The Adventure 16 store in Costa Mesa had been open 28 years, including six years at outdoor-sports oriented The Camp retail center. The Torrance, CA, location was closed after just three years in business.

“The parting of both stores was hard for we gave it our all and we lost about 20 great sales associates and several central operations folks,” said Mead in an e-mail. “However, in order for us to focus our limited resources on our five more established locations, we had to cut our losses at our under performing stores.”

Mead said all the merchandise in both 12,000 square foot stores was absorbed by its other locations rather than liquidated. The remaining Adventure 16 stores are located in West Los Angeles, San Diego, Solana Beach, CA, Oceanside, CA, and Tarzana, CA.
