The Australian Olympic Committee and adidas announced a sponsorship agreement until 2016. Under the terms of the agreement, which comes into effect immediately, adidas will outfit the Australian Olympic Team at the next Summer Olympics in Beijing 2008 as well as the Olympic Games in 2012 and 2016. adidas who last outfitted the Australian Olympic Team at the 1996 Atlanta Games, will provide competition uniforms and casual clothing for the athletes, coaches and officials.

The AOC has had a remarkable success at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and at the 2004 Athens Olympics when the Australia Team finished fourth on the overall medal tally at both Olympics. Australia won a record 58 medals in Sydney and 49 medals, including a record 17 gold medals in Athens.

“We’ve had a great association with adidas over the years and are thrilled to renew our old partnership,” said AOC President John Coates. “adidas recognizes Australia’s strength and our athletes’ impressive performance on the world stage of Olympic Games.”

“adidas has a long tradition in Olympic Sports and we are proud to again be working with the Australian Olympic Committee,” said Jocelyn Robiot, adidas Global Sports Marketing Director. “We are looking forward to working with the Australian Team to make their next Olympic Games even more successful Games.”
