Adidas has appointed Claus-Peter Mayer as general manager for Central Europe and Olivier Gianina as general manager for Southern Europe.
Mayer (shown right) succeeds Marina Moguš, who has been responsible for the Central Europe region since 2021. Moguš, who has also been a member of the board of the German Sporting Goods Industry Association (BSI) since 2024, is leaving the company after 19 years to pursue a “new professional opportunity outside the sporting goods industry.”
Mayer, who assumes the new role on September 1, has been with Adidas for over 30 years, most recently as GM and SVP, South Europe. Adidas’ Central Europe region includes the brand’s home market of Germany, along with Austria, Switzerland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia.
Olivier Gianina (shown bottom left) will take over as head of the Southern Europe region on August 1. He has been with Adidas since 2003 and, most recently, led the company’s business in Brazil. Previously, he held various international positions, including in sales, supply chain, IT, and business development.
Adidas’ South European market covers Spain, Portugal, France and Italy, as well as several countries across Southeastern Europe.
In the first quarter, Adidas’ sales in Europe, its largest region, totaled €2.09 billion, up 5 percent on a reported basis and 6 percent on a currency-neutral basis.
