After successful efforts over the last two months to curb gray market distribution and counterfeiting of Titleist Pro V1 golf balls, The Acushnet Company, the golf division of Fortune Brands that owns the Titleist, FootJoy, Cobra, and Pinnacle brands, has filed additional lawsuits in Federal Courts against the wholesalers responsible for the distribution of the product as well as a few more retailers that were caught up in the issue.

Acushnet in April settled with Academy Sports & Outdoors and Scheel’s All Sports after the company found both real and counterfeit Pro V1 golf balls were sold in their stores. Both suits were dropped after both retailers agreed to work with Acushnet to remove the fakes and provide information on the source of the product. That information has apparently led the company to Cam Golf, Faber Brothers, and Kings of Golf, aka KG Golf. Federal suits were filed against each company requesting immediate relief from the continued distribution of gray market and counterfeit product.

Additionally, Acushnet has added Boston-based City Sports and northwest regional retailer G.I. Joes to their hit list. Both are apparently cooperating in the ongoing probe.
