Acushnet Co., the maker of Titleist golf balls, will reduce its work
force at its distribution center and two local ball plants by 77
positions, company officials told the Standard Times of New Bedford.
The reductions will take place at Ball Plants II and III, located in
North Dartmouth and New Bedford, respectively, and at its Fairhaven
distribution center. The layoffs are expected to take place over the
next month.

Mary
Lou Bohn, Acushnet's spokeswoman, said it is normal for Titleist to
make occasional, temporary adjustments to the size of its work force in
response based on demand.

“We anticipate this reduction being a short-term adjustment to production levels,” she said.
