The American Council on Exercise (ACE) sponsored an independent study to evaluate the effect of TRX training — most commonly known in the fitness world by its suspension trainer bands that tap on body weight and functional movements.

ACE-commissioned scientists evaluated a litany of strength, balance, fitness and health metrics before and after participants performed a standard eight-week TRX program.

The peer-reviewed ACE study found that, “Combining the biological markers tested before and after the eight-week program, TRX training proved 89.2 percent clinically beneficial in improving participants’ risk of dying from cardiovascular disease in the next thirty years.”

The average calorie burn per session was rounded to 400 calories.

The study found links between TRX training and lowered blood pressure, lowered body fat percentage and lower waist circumference.

ACE Chief Science Officer Cedric X. Bryant, Ph.D. added, “Habitual TRX training showed a significant decrease in key indicators for cardiovascular disease. We were especially pleased to see a lowered resting blood pressure for all participants, most prominent for those with high blood pressures prior to the study.”
