Academy Sports + Outdoors reported it expects first-quarter sales to climb between 6 percent and 7 percent, with comparable sales in the range of 2 percent to 3 percent. The forecast was issued ahead of an Analyst Day on Tuesday, April 7.

Academy did not provide guidance on earnings.

When the retailer released its fourth-quarter results on March 17, Carl Ford, Academy’s EVP and CFO, told analysts that comps in the first seven weeks of the first quarter “are off to a positive comp sales start,” and Academy expected the period to be its strongest quarter of the year, as the chain laps a 3.7 percent decline a year ago.

Academy provided guidance for the year, calling for sales in the range of $6,175 million to $6,355 million, or up 3.5 percent at the midpoint. Comparable-store sales are expected to range from a decline of 1 percent to a gain of 2 percent. Adjusted EPS is expected to range between $6.10 and $6.60 against $5.78 in 2025, a gain of 9.9 percent at the midpoint.
