Academy Sports + Outdoors continues to expand its brick-and-mortar footprint with new store openings across Ohio and Oklahoma.
As part of its ongoing national growth strategy, Academy is opening two new stores – one in North Canton, OH, and the other in Muskogee, OK. With these stores, Academy now has four locations in Ohio and 14 in Oklahoma, with plans to open 20 to 25 new stores in fiscal 2026.
Both new store locations will offer a wide assortment of Academy’s signature sporting goods, outdoor gear, apparel, and accessories, including products across categories sports equipment, footwear, outdoor recreation, and hunting and fishing.
The two locations are expected to create roughly 120 new jobs across both markets.
“Expanding into North Canton and Muskogee is an exciting step forward as Academy continues to grow and reach more customers across the country,” said Eric Friederich, senior vice president of Retail Operations at Academy Sports + Outdoors. “We’re focused on extending our footprint with intention, growing in the right markets, strengthening our connection with customers, and creating stores that make it easier for families to get out and enjoy the activities they love.”
In 2025, Academy opened 24 new stores across 16 states, including its first locations in Maryland and Pennsylvania. In 2024, the company’s expansion included the opening of 16 new stores across 10 states.
Academy Sports + Outdoors currently operates over 300 stores across 21 states.
